Tom Parker – President
As a founding partner and president of Shafran USA, Tom Parker has over 12 years of intelligence experience in the private sector; including Senior Director of competitive intelligence at two major United States corporations.
His professional work experience includes consultation with foreign companies in establishing competitive intelligence operations, advising the intelligence community on various intelligence techniques and providing competitive intelligence analysis and risk assessment to senior management of companies to counter impending threats by competitors. Tom spent six years in the United States military, serving in leadership positions within Infantry, Armor and Intelligence units. His service included commanding a select intelligence unit recognized for its technical and tactical expertise and served as an elite Airborne Ranger. His duties included background in tactical military intelligence requiring extensive use of collection techniques and analysis and providing counterterroism consultation to the United States government for locales in Central America and the Middle East.
Tom holds a Bachelors of Science degree and is a distinguished military graduate from Indiana University.
Jim Thomas – Vice President of Operations
As a founding partner and vice president of operations of Shafran USA, Jim Thomas has over 30 years intelligence experience—in both the public and private sector. Jim’s experience includes Program Manager, Director of Intelligence and Security, Intelligence Officer, Counterintelligence Analyst and Risk Assessment Manager.
His professional work experiences include developing turnkey strategic business intelligence processes and systems and training corporate personnel on how to conduct counterintelligence to defeat industrial and economic espionage and protect proprietary information. Additionally, Jim spent over 25 years in the United States military, serving as an Army Military Intelligence Officer. His service included Director of United States Military Attachés Program in South America, established a HUMINT intelligence system and network in Central and South America. He developed and taught a course entitled Psychological Operations which taught the principles of psychological warfare at the United States Air Force Academy. Jim has conducted liaison with most United States intelligence agencies and many foreign intelligence agencies. He has worked closely with law enforcement agencies as well as presenting intelligence and counter-intelligence briefings to numerous audiences in both the government and private sectors. Jim is a former US Army Lieutenant Colonel.
Jim holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Marymount University, a Masters in Psychology and Statistics from St. Mary’s University and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri.
Doron Shany – Managing Director, Counterterrorism Operations
Doron Shany has more than 20 years of service in the Israeli Security Agency (ISA). His duties at ISA included supervising security operations of Israeli assets in European airlines, the merchant marine and embassies. He is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Israeli Defense Forces, where he commanded an armored tank battalion.
Since retiring from ISA, Doron has been providing counterterrorism and security assessment services in senior level positions in the private sector.
Doron holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters of Business Administration, with distinction, from Tel Aviv University.
Yizhak Dar (Dutsi) – Managing Director, Counterterrorism Systems
Yizhak Dar (Dutsi) retired from the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) after 26 years of service, nine of which he served as Division Director. During his service at the ISA he headed two divisions: Operations from 1994-1998 and Counterintelligence from 2000-2003. From 1998 to 2000 he served as Regional Security Director in North America.
Dutsi's experience includes protective security, security clearance and clandestine activity.
Dutsi holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Haifa, and is a graduate of Harvard University Business School's Advanced Management Program.
