Water and Wastewater Treatment |
|
Clean, safe water is critical to human life. Yet, this invaluable resource is taken for granted by Americans every day. Under Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7 (HSPD-7), water supply is identified as one of this nation's primary critical infrastructures. The risk to the US water supply includes threats to water treatment and distribution systems, water storage facilities (i.e. reservoirs or water towers) and drinking water sources (i.e. rivers, lakes, wells and reservoirs). In the US there are 168,000 public drinking water facilities and 16,000 publicly owned wastewater treatment plants. In the past, these facilities have been considered relatively safe and low priority for protection from a terrorist attack. September 11, 2001, changed this thinking and now the water infrastructure is at high risk and must be protected from a terrorist attack. Keeping Water Safe To support water and wastewater companies in their preparedness to prevent terrorist attacks Shafran USA:
A clean, reliable water supply is a critical resource to the American public. Shafran USA can help make sure it stays protected.
