Agroterrorism is the deliberate contamination of the food supply with the intention of doing harm to the social, economic and psychological well-being of a population. Agroterrorism is a concern for the United States because animals and crops must have large areas of land in order to operate, making security almost impossible of farms and ranches.

In the United States, agriculture is a $1 trillion economic sector that creates one-sixth of the United States gross national product.
